Fee Reduction Scheme for Local Postgraduate Candidate with Disabilities/Senior Citizens

This scheme is open to local candidates with an active candidature status who are enrolled in Master's or Doctoral programmes.

Persons with Disabilities / Senior Citizens are eligible for a 50% reduction in tuition and research fees. 

1. This scheme is open to local postgraduate candidates with active status who are enrolled in Master's or Doctorate programmes at Universiti Malaya (UM).
   
   
2. Applicants must be Malaysian citizens. Permanent residents are not eligible to apply.
   
   
3. Applicants must be registered as UM students.
   
   
4. Applicants must not be recipients of any other scholarship or sponsorship at the time of application.
   
   
5. Applicants must not have any outstanding debts or unpaid fees with UM.
   
   
6. Applicants with disabilities must be recognized as disabled by the Department of Social Welfare.
   
   
7. Senior citizen applicants must be 60 years old or above at the time of application.

1. Applications must be submitted online via the Maya Portal: https://maya.um.edu.my > Finance > Scholarship. Hard copy submissions will not be accepted.
   
   
2. Applications are required only once during the candidature period. Once approved, the fee reduction will automatically renew for the remaining duration of the candidature.
   
   
3. Incomplete applications will be automatically rejected.
   
   
4. The online application must be submitted by 26 July 2026. Late applications will not be considered.
